Valeura Energy announced the discovery of the new Suraphi oil field near the Manora oil field in Block G1/48 in the Gulf of Thailand. The discovery was made by the Manora-9 offshore exploration well and its sidetrack, located approximately 4.5 km northeast of the existing Manora A platform. Valeura holds a 70% operating interest in Block G1/48. It has now moved from the exploration phase to the development planning phase and has begun studying the construction of a new satellite production facility.

The Manora-9 well drilled and tested multiple targets in different fault blocks. The E target found multiple oil-bearing intervals in the 600-series lacustrine sandstones, penetrating a total oil column of 626 feet, with 162 feet of net oil pay; the adjacent D fault block found a total oil column of 849 feet, with 172 feet of net oil pay. A third sidetrack tested a shallower, higher-risk target but found no hydrocarbons.
Valeura said that success in the D and E fault blocks also de-risked the adjacent F fault block, which is clearly imaged on 3D seismic data. Based on pressure data acquired during drilling and structural interpretation, the company believes that several fault blocks may have room for further hydrocarbon charge. Even under a conservative case that counts only the deepest proven oil-bearing contact in the well, the company still believes the discovery has an economic basis for a satellite development facility.
Suraphi’s subsequent development plan is planned to be integrated with existing Manora infrastructure. Valeura intends to study the construction of a satellite platform and its tie-in to Manora’s existing wellhead and processing facilities. The company will also concurrently evaluate the Malida oil field, approximately 3.5 km from Suraphi, assessing the feasibility of including it in the same satellite development concept, while re-evaluating nearby identified exploration targets.
The existing Manora oil field in Block G1/48 is located in the Kra sub-basin of the Gulf of Thailand in approximately 45 m of water, and Valeura holds a 70% operating interest. The Suraphi discovery is located near existing production infrastructure, so the next phase of work will focus on reservoir evaluation, development concept design, satellite facility configuration, and tie-in arrangements with Manora's existing processing system.
Meanwhile, Valeura has completed a new round of development and appraisal drilling at the Jasmine field in Block B5/27, with four successful wellbores, including two horizontal development wells and two directional wells with combined development and appraisal objectives. Following the start-up of the new wells, production at the Jasmine field increased from approximately 7,570 bbl/d to approximately 8,250 bbl/d. The two multi-target wells also appraised several new reservoir intervals, which will continue to be studied as potential development targets.
Valeura plans to resume drilling operations in the Gulf of Thailand in early November 2026, using the Shelf Drilling Enterprise rig. It will first carry out a drilling program at the Nong Yao field in Block G11/48, then move to the Wassana field in Block G10/48 for development drilling.
